As Saturday Night Live gets ready to enter the throes of the 2020 election, one thing is now certain: None of the SNL cast from season 45 have left the show — or been fired — since it aired its remotely-produced pandemic episodes earlier this year. NBC announced today that the entire cast will return to SNL when season 46 premieres on October 3; it’s unknown yet whether any new comedians have been added to the cast, which is already pretty crowded with 17 performers, including “Weekend Update†co-anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che. NBC also confirmed the previously announced news that SNL will tape from its usual home at Studio 8H in 30 Rock, but it’s still unclear whether or not the live shows will feature some, if any, audience given COVID-19 precautions. In the meantime, congratulations to the continued screen time of the SNL cast — and an extra congrats to Ego Nwodim for the promotion.
