If you thought the most recent Kris Jenner scam was casting Timothée Chalamet, well, you have been scammed. Her daughter Kim has been weaseled into a starring role on — wait for it — the 12th season of American Horror Story, out this summer on FX and Hulu. Confirming she will star alongside Emma Roberts, the Skims founder shared the news on Twitter back in April with a blood emoji captioning a video of soft piano music and simply the word DELICATE.
Roberts, a Ryan Murphy favorite, last appeared in the series in 2019 with AHS: 1984. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this season is headed by showrunner Halley Feiffer, who “has written a fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role especially for Kim.†Below, every gory detail we know about the production, including when Siobhan returns to our screens.
Part 2’s Trailer isn’t for quitters
Kim K. is definitely giving “get up off your ass and work†in the trailer for AHS: Delicate - Part 2. When Anna (Emma Roberts) says she can’t keep campaigning through awards season while pregnant, Kim’s malevolent manager slaps Anna across her face. We also get snippets of supporting player Tavi Gevinson, a (dream sequence?) make out sesh between Kardashian and Roberts, and a spider crawling out of Anna’s pregnant belly.
The premise is a jumpscare for Gilmore Girls Fans
“You have a peculiar penchant for turning dreams into nightmares,†Kim Kardashian says in the first trailer’s most Kim Kardashiany line-reading. She’s supposed to be consoling Emma Roberts, an actress who’s undergoing some Dead Ringers fertility treatment at the hands of Cara Delevingne, to have a baby with Logan Huntzberger. Wait, is this her nightmare or Rory Gilmore’s?
What’s in the teasers?
The first look at Delicate consisted of a company of women doing some kind of ritualistic dance as a bird’s egg falls from its nest. The chorus wear latex cutout bodysuits and matching gloves that hide their clawlike fingers. We then see portraits of the stars — Emma Roberts, Kim Kardashian, and Cara Delevingne — in lab coats and more latex gloves as they remove their multi-lensed spectacles, soundtracked by a haunting rendition of “Rock-a-Bye-Baby.†Then, Kim is cradling a bundle of … joy? Are they manufacturing the next generation of Skims consumers?
The second teaser only adds more questions but at least gives a few answers: Roberts is the possible spider-mommy in question, but is Kim K the nanny? Delevingne seems certain to be the OBGYN from a spidery hell, but what’s her insurance co-pay looking like?
The third teaser focuses on Roberts as she sprints down a hallway, attempting to keep all those clawlike fingers off her pregnant belly. But she suddenly stops in her tracks, looking horrified at something waiting in front of her. What could be more frightening than her pursuers? Her hospital bill?
What did I miss on Glee Part 1?
THR reports that the upcoming season will be based on actual source material — a “first†in the series’ history. Titled Delicate (a possible Taylor Swift Easter egg??), it’s partly based on YA writer Danielle Valentine’s upcoming novel, Delicate Condition. This is Valentine’s first-ever adult novel, and the publisher, Sourcebooks, describes it as “The Push meets The Silent Patient in a gripping thriller that follows a woman convinced a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens — while the men in her life refuse to believe a word she says.†On the cover, a review blurb from Andrea Bartz calls it “the feminist update to Rosemary’s Baby we all needed.†Did we?!
How mean is Kim?
Girl, so mean. We have a whole ongoing column about how scary she is.
Who else is in the cast?
Joining Roberts, Kim K., and Delevingne, is The Resident’s Matt Czuchry, along with Billie Lourd and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez. Delevingne was recently spotted filming in a black wig and — jump scare! — peplum blazer. Meanwhile, Brad Falchuk will be back as executive producer, which gives us hope that his ski-trial-winning wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, might join the cast with an exploding Goop candle or something.
Is there a release date?
Delicate — part two, that is — is due April 3 on FX, then she streams on Hulu.
