As more and more luxe airport lounges open across the country, we’ve seen a serious change in the elevation of pre-flight experiences. The new Delta One Lounge at LAX International Airport, which opens Thursday, October 10, is no exception. Exclusively for Delta One fliers, Delta 360° status members and select Delta partner passengers, Delta has managed to one-up its own game from its SkyMiles Clubs for the most elite of fliers.

The Delta One lounge at LAX is the second of its kind, with one location already open at JFK International Airport in New York City. However, there are some key differences between the two that make each lounge a standout. All in all, the Delta One lounge at LAX further incentivizes Delta loyalists to book that Delta One ticket, not only for the comfort of the in-flight experience but also for a luxurious pre-flight experience to match.

Who Is Eligible To Access the Delta One Lounge?

The Delta One Lounge at LAX is only accessible to a select group of fliers.

  • Passengers with a Delta One ticket are eligible to enter.
  • 360 Status members are also eligible and are able to bring companions for $100 per person or 10,000 SkyMiles per person; however, they must have at least a first-class ticket.
  • If you have an equivalent class seat on Korean Air, AirFrance, KLM, LATAM, Virgin Atlantic, or SAS Airlines, you can also access the Delta One Lounge at LAX.

Unfortunately, Delta credit cards won’t help you get into this lounge unless you redeem your Delta miles for a Delta One flight.

The Basics: Hours, Location, Size and Space

The Delta One Lounge is located in Terminal 3 at LAX International Airport, just down the hall from the Delta SkyMiles Club. The lounge is 10,280 square feet and has an appropriate Southern California feel with soft sunset hues. There are also some gold and royal blue pops, a lovely ode to old Hollywood glamor. Delta One’s luxury brand partner, Missoni, provides accent pillows outside on the sky deck terrace, and international artwork can be found throughout the space. The lounge is open seven days a week from 4:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

With 192 seats total, you can enjoy your pre-flight experience at the sky deck, where you can enjoy the views of flights departing from LAX, a living room, quiet areas and the bar. WiFi is available throughout the lounge.

Private Delta One Check-In

The exclusivity of flying Delta One begins long before the flight and even before the lounge experience. LAX International Airport has a private Delta One check-in located on level one of arrivals. Included in your Delta One ticket is a pre-lounge experience where you can sip Silver Oak wine, a private TSA screening that takes merely seconds to get through and a private back entrance to the lounge.

Passengers flying a Delta partner at a matched class level can access this private entry, but if they are not checked in online and have a bag to drop, they must first stop by the appropriate airline counter to drop their bags and obtain their boarding pass. It might still be worth returning to this entrance after dropping off checked bags for the expedited path through security.

Food and Drink

Now that we’ve gotten the logistics out of the way, let’s get to the important part—the food and beverage. The Delta One Lounge at LAX International Airport has a serious culinary game, giving other lounge cuisine a run for its money.

The biggest standouts are the sushi bar, where the order prepares fresh sushi rolls, and the second is the creative bento boxes. There are three bento box options: Tokyo (featuring tonkatsu sando, miso black cod and matcha panna cotta), Paris (beef cheek bourguignon, petite potato salad, scallops grenobloise and a “floating island” dessert), and Boston (lobster toast, roasted lamb with green lentils, pear and frisee salad and a maple cream whoopie pie).

Additionally, there are a la carte menu items available, with highlights like a bucatini verde with maitake mushrooms, a “street corn style pizza,” fish tacos and a multi-tiered dessert table.

For drinks, enjoy cocktails appropriately named after other Delta hubs, like AMS (“Raspberry Tulip” a la Amsterdam) made with gin and raspberry, or the PPT (“Mai Omai” a la Tahiti) made with rum, juice and Tahitian vanilla. Complimentary bar carts can be found throughout the lounge with quality wine and Champagne offerings.

Wellness

For a rejuvenating experience, book a 15-minute massage chair session in Delta One Lounge’s dedicated wellness area. You’ll also have the option to enjoy the zero-gravity chairs, and access to HyperIce products such as the Hypervolt 2 massage device, Normatec Elite dynamic air compression massage for your legs and a Venom 2 Black, or heat and massage wrap for your back.

If you happen to be flying Delta One to or from JFK, note that the New York lounge offers varying wellness treatments such as a “Recovery Remedy,” with a ten-minute shoulder and scalp temple massage, a hand and arm facial and “all about the eyes” to revive tired eyes with cryotherapy.

The only other current Delta One Lounge is at New York’s JFK International Airport in Terminal 4. However, a Boston location is slated to open soon.

Bottom Line

Delta One is among the most premium airline classes out there, and the addition of the Delta One Lounge at LAX further elevates what is already a creme da le creme experience. From chic decor to world-class cuisine and wine selections, the newly opened Delta One lounge at LAX is proof that flying is far more than just the flight.
