Back in 2018, before the civil suits and countersuits, Blake Lively only had to deal with finely tailored suits in Paul Feig’s genre-screwing sleeper hit A Simple Favor. She played shady lady Emily Nelson, whose Gone Girl–ing is only the tip of a messy iceberg uncovered by Anna Kendrick’s mommy-vlogger character, Stephanie Smothers. Seven years later, Lively returns to toy with Kendrick once more, acting feral in Feig’s sequel, Another Simple Favor. This time, she invites Stephanie to be the maid of honor at her lavish wedding on the island of Capri, in Italy. “You think I invited you to get revenge for stealing my life?” Emily asks, which in the context of an Italian wedding, is clearly an homage to that time Kim said of Kourtney, “You stole my fucking wedding country … But I’m copying her dolce vita lifestyle?”
Anyway, this trailer plays like season two of The White Lotus with cops, dead bodies, and perilous Italian cliffs. But the most glaring missing person in this sequel is Ryan Reynolds’s gin brand, Aviator, which was all over the first movie. This time, Feig is product-placing his own characteristically Anglophilic gin, Artingstall’s. Scandalo! Pettegolezzi! Brother fucker! The whole thing drops on Prime on May 1.
