In the war to woo your way into Tony Awards, nobody is fighting harder, training better, or winning more battles than the trio over at Merrily We Roll Along. Assassins of adorability Daniel Radcliffe, Jonathan Groff, and Lindsay Mendez appeared together on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on May 20 to perform a stripped-down version of “Old Friends” from Merrily and, dear God, are they good at this. The three actors donned color-matched outfits to sing the song sans choreography, though they still fully acted. That is, except for the moment that Groff appears to break and smile at Mendez, which is, damn it, adorable. Then, during a section of the song where the three are fighting, Mendez throws in a giggle-worthy “We are on The Late Show!” Finally, at the very end, the three of them cluster together, hugging around the mic. They might as well have played a montage of the boys in Mendez’s wedding, and how they sent video messages to each other, and that time Groff kept saying he “gets wet,” and suddenly you simply must vote for them all to win Tony Awards. Another charm battle won in the midst of a charm war.
