Throw on your purple sweatshirts, snort some coke, make some questionable choices, and rejoice! Industry (your favorite show about dumb, smart, wealthy 20-somethings) is on its way back. The third season of everybody’s favorite HBO business drama now that Succession is over returns August 11. The show, written by Konrad Kay and Mickey Down, follows the young traders of Pierpoint & Co. (a fictional international bank) as they navigate intensely terrible businesspeople and the potential for (and continual avoidance of) systemic change in their offices. The best way to learn about what’s going on in season three? Look to the real world of finance for an inkling of what the show that’s covered meme stocks and the pandemic might be tackling next. The secrets of the trading floor never stay secret for long. Below, find everything you need to know about the cast, the new season’s focus, and when it’s time to get back to work anxiously watching TV.

What have the suits said about the season?

Back when Industry was first renewed in October 2022, HBO seemed pretty chuffed with its little British show that could. “Industry reached new heights in season two, cementing its status as a buzzy hit with addictive storytelling, layered characters, a breakneck pace, and keen observations about contemporary workplace dynamics,†Kathleen McCaffrey, the Senior VP of HBO programming, said. “We’re incredibly proud of what Mickey and Konrad, Jami O’Brien, Jane Tranter and the team at Bad Wolf, together with our entire cast and crew, accomplished. We couldn’t be more excited to continue our journey with them into season three.â€

“We just finished the writers’ room for series three,†Industry writer Joseph Charlton confirmed to Digital Spy on March 10, 2023. He teased the inclusion of some new characters, saying, “We’re casting it at the moment. I’m really excited about the casting conversations that are happening.â€

So, who’s in the cast?

Industry vets Myha’la Herrold, Ken Leung, Marisa Abela, and Harry Lawtey are all returning for season three, per HBO, and we expect to see all of them in fine (read: terrible) form. Notably not included in the cast list are Jay Duplass and David Jonsson, so it looks like they went for a plane ride and didn’t come back. But don’t fear: There are other HBO-friendly faces joining the crew. Barry’s Sarah Goldberg is joining the cast as Petra Koening, and Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has been cast as a character named Sir Henry Muck. Hopefully, this time, he won’t need to be brought back to life via deus ex machina.

What’s season three about?

According to HBO, the season will follow Pierpoint as it “bets on ethical investing,†which should be fun given that this show features only unethical people. We know that Harington’s Muck will be a CEO and founder of a green-tech energy company that is looking to go public. But, uh, since Industry tends to be more interested in how a capitalist need for profit underlies even the “ethical†choices made by high-powered individuals, we wouldn’t bet on Harington playing another honorable man.

Meanwhile, Harper, having been ousted from Pierpoint, will be searching for a way back into investing and apparently will find it via Goldberg’s Koenig. You had to know she couldn’t go long without attracting a mentor to have an inappropriate relationship with, right?

When is season three coming out?

The third season will finally come out on Sunday, August 11, nearly two years after the second-season finale. Thank God, Harper never disappoints. (On the entertainment scale, we mean. If you’re looking for her to be a good person, she disappoints all the time, actually.)
