In season two of AMC’s ridiculously watchable sexy gay dark fun Gothic thrilling did-I-already-say-sexy show Interview With the Vampire, Louis de Pointe du Lac has done what so many babygirls have done before him: decamped to Paris to get over his ex. In a next-level theatrical extended trailer for the upcoming season, Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Claudia (Delainey Hayles, replacing Metkayina clanswoman Bailey Bass) have decamped to 1940s Paris to escape all the drama of New Orleans. “A shit life beats no life,†Louis tells Claudia, who writes “Fuck these vampires†in her journal.
Despite saying they’re over the drama, Louis and Claudia find themselves caught up in the Theatre Des Vampires, an immortal group of theater geeks who sleep in coffins backstage and are only slightly weirder than the cast of your average high-school production of Mean Girls. Speaking of mean girls, Lestat is there (Sam Reid), because of course he’s into that sort of thing, so we get plenty of shots of crying and screaming and manic laughing and blood and gore.
The first trailer teases more Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) this season. We see him talking with Justin Kirk (an editor, maybe?) and a flashback to what looks like young Daniel when he first met Louis in the ’70s. In the present-day bits, Louis is joined on the interview couch this season by Armand (Assad Zaman). Daniel is annoyed that they finish each other’s sentences, but Louis points out that they’ve been together for 70 years; they’re basically a When Harry Met Sally interstitial segment.
But the second trailer gives us a sense of Armand’s manipulation, and Louis admits to not remembering parts of his past. Not to mention the love triangles (quadrangles? 20-sided love affairs?) coming in season 2. Could there be trouble in paradise damnation? We’ll find out May 12, when Interview With the Vampire season 2 premieres on AMC and streaming on AMC+. Comment dit-on “slay
