Sometimes, when you’re campaigning for a movie musical about a Mexican drug lord who wants gender-affirming surgery, you have to pay respects to the classics, especially ones that are near and dear to your heart. Emilia Pérez’s Karla Sofía Gascón is no stranger to talking up Star Wars, as the peak of awards season is just months away. In an interview with Elle for the Women in Hollywood issue, the actress remembered how starstruck she was when she met Mark Hamill, aka Luke Skywalker, who stars in one of her favorite movies (technically three of her top four flicks). She tried to give herself a pep talk so as not to act “like a fan” but couldn’t help herself. It is Luke Skywalker; who could blame her? Leading up to the first big show of the season Golden Globes, Gascón should honestly just keep talking about Star Wars— we need to see if she calls Baby Yoda “Grogu.”
