These legs might just be made for walking. Longlegs, Neon’s new horror thriller starring Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe, is off to a strong start at the box office. Per Deadline, Longlegs grossed $10 million (including $3 million in Thursday previews) on its first day at the box office. For context, Sydney Sweeney’s Immaculate previously set Neon’s opening-weekend record with $5.3 million in March. But per Deadline’s estimate, Longlegs is currently on track to quadruple that number and close out its opening weekend with a total between $20 million and $23 million. This is great news for Neon, which told World of Reel that the movie’s budget is “under $10 million.” Deadline reports that the distributor also kept costs low by focusing marketing efforts on digital platforms as opposed to TV. Yeah, we saw the PopCrave promo.
