Celebrities Who Have Lost Their Homes in the L.A. Fires

The Los Angeles wildfires have destroyed countless homes since they began on Tuesday, January 7. Since then, 200,000 residents have evacuated their homes in L.A. County, and at least 24 people are confirmed dead with eight killed by the Palisades Fire and 16 from the Eaton Fire. Thousands of homes have burned down in the fires as well, including those of celebrities like Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bella Hadid, and Jeff Bridges. CalMatters estimates that, as of January 12, at least 12,000 buildings have been destroyed by the fires, though the full numbers have not yet become clear. The Palisades and Eaton Fires are still burning, as of January 19.

“Where I live is on fire right now,” Jamie Lee Curtis said on The Tonight Show. “Everything — the market I shop in, the schools my kids go to … many, many, many friends have lost their homes.” Below, a list of celebrities who have lost their homes in L.A. fires.

Emily and Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel announced on Instagram that her and Emily Deschanel’s childhood home in the Palisades had burned down. “It was one of the oldest homes in the Palisades and so spectacularly beautiful,” she wrote. “The family photos that lined the hallways, the artwork, the piano I learned to play on, the wedding china, the furniture my great great grandfather built… the reminders of generations past: All have vanished into thin air.”

Carel Struyken

Carel Struyken, who played Lurch in the Addams Family movies and the Giant in Twin Peaks, lost his home in the Eaton Fire. There is a GoFundMe for Struyken, shared on Twitter.

Madlib

Producer Madlib has lost his home to the California fires. DJ Premier announced the news on Twitter, and included a Donor Box link. Madlib not only lost his home, but decades of music and equipment.

Joshua Jackson

Joshua Jackson confirmed that his his home burned down in a statement to THR on January 12, though his family was all “OK.” He noted: “today, I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by the people I love.”

Sona Movsesian

Conan O’Brien’s long-time assistant/sidekick wrote on Instagram that she lost her home in the Eaton Fire. Team Coco also made a statement that everyone working at the company is safe from the fires.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

People confirms the VEEP star lost her home in the Palisades Fire.

Pete Lee

Comedian Pete Lee told Jimmy Fallon he saw a news reporter “in front of my house” in the Palisades. he’s like, ‘Some people are finding out right now that their home is burning by watching this broadcast.’ And I’m watching it with a friend, I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’s me. That’s my house,” Lee shared.

Barbara Corcoran

The Shark Tank star lost her mobile home in Malibu Park, she explained in an Instagram post on January 10: “Our beloved Tahitian Terrace community off PCH in the Palisades has been devastated. The place where memories were made, friendships were built, and lives were shared has been tragically destroyed. Most of my neighbors—many elderly—lost everything.”

Molly Baz

Chef Molly Baz shared on Instagram Stories a picture of her home, captioning it as “the last photo I took before we lost it all.”

Mel Gibson

Actor and director Mel Gibson told NewsNation that his Malibu home went up in flames while he was in Texas for an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast. “I was kind of ill at ease while we were talking because I knew my neighborhood was on fire, so I thought, ehh, I wonder if my place is still there,” Gibson recalled. “But when I got home, sure enough, it wasn’t there.” His publicist also confirmed the news to the Associated Press on January 10.

Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg

Actors Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg shared a video showing their intended “forever home” reduced to ash and rubble. “Thankfully our family is safe, however other LA fire victims aren’t as fortunate,” the couple captioned the joint January 10 post. “Please donate to them if you can.”

Jeff Bridges

Actor Jeff Bridges’s Malibu family home burned down, CBS News confirmed on January 10.

Bella Hadid

Model Bella Hadid shared a photo of her childhood home, pointing out the room she grew up in engulfed in flames.

Milo Ventimiglia

This Is Us star Milo Ventimiglia told CBS News his home had perished on January 10. “You start thinking about all the memories in different parts of the house and what not,” he said. “And then you see your neighbors’ houses and everything kind of around, and your heart just breaks.”

Anthony Hopkins

Actor Anthony Hopkins’s home burned down, People confirmed on January 10. The same day, Hopkins posted a message of support for those impacted. “As we struggle to heal from the devastation of these fires, it’s important we remember that the only thing we take with us is the love we give,” he wrote.

Cobie Smulders and Taran Killam

Cobie Smulders and Taran Killam’s home in Pacific Palisades burned down, People confirmed via photos.

Miles and Keleigh Teller

Keleigh Teller, married to actor Miles Teller, shared a photo of their home on January 9, confirming that it had burned down. “To everyone reaching out I can’t thank you enough, your kind hearts have meant the world, I’ll never forget them,” she wrote. “Community has come out stronger than I could imagine, pacific palisades I love you beyond measure you are a little slice of heaven, we will come back stronger than ever.”

John Goodman

John Goodman’s home was destroyed in the fires, People reported on January 9.

Eugene Levy

The current honorary mayor of Pacific Palisades, Eugene Levy, lost his home, People confirmed.

Anna Faris

Actress Anna Farris’s representatives told People that her house burned down, though her family is safe.

Singer Empress Of posted on Instagram Stories on January 9 that she lost her home in the Eaton Fire in Pasadena, writing: “My family home is gone. I’m devastated. Thankful for our safety.”

Pratt shared a photo of their home in ashes on January 9. “The one positive sign i saw as our house burned down was ours sons bed burned in the shape of a heart,” he wrote.

Actress Kate Beckinsale’s home burned down on January 8. “My daughter and I lived there for most of her childhood and most of her childhood is gone,” she wrote. “Her primary school, every shop or restaurant we used to go to with my parents and Michael’s parents - and devastatingly, most of her friends homes.”
