Okay, sure, James Bond actor Daniel Craig is playing a gay character in Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming film Queer. (That’s not new territory for Craig.) But as to whether Bond himself could go gay? Frankly, that’s none of Guadagnino’s business. When a reporter asked Craig about a potential “gay James Bond†at the Venice Film Festival press conference for Queer September 3, Guadagnino cut in. “Guys, let’s be adults in the room for a second,†he said, per The Hollywood Reporter. But, no, he wasn’t going to chide this reporter — he just wanted to be sure we were really considering the international secret agent in question. “There is no way around the fact that nobody could ever know James Bond’s desires, period,†Guadagnino continued, to laughter from the media and Craig. “The important thing is that he does his missions properly.†Spoken like someone who should direct a Bond film.
