When’s it coming?
On July 9, DreamWorks officially confirmed Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz are all returning for Shrek 5. Murphy told Collider on June 24 that he was partway through recording the voices for Shrek 5, a process that had begun “months ago.†The movie is currently slated for release on July 1, 2026. Pencil in a Hot Ogre Summer.
But wait, there’s more?
There sure is! Murphy will also voice Donkey in a Donkey spinoff film that has not yet begun recording, he told Collider. If we had our way, that movie would just be Donkey and Dragon hosting a dinner party, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? style. Maybe with Gingy and Pinocchio as the younger couple? Just Shrek-balling here.
Is there any plan to adapt Shrek: The Musical?
Not that we know of, but there certainly should be. In the meantime, continue to listen to “Who I’d Be†and cry.
