Reminiscent of Berlin’s epic, 24/7 club scene, the Blkmarket Membership party goes on, and on, and on, well past sunrise�and sometimes longer�in secret locations (film studios, storage warehouses) that are only revealed to those who RSVP. (Despite the event’s name, there’s no membership required.) Dance-music disciples eagerly pay $20 to $35 to move to a mix of deep house, dubstep, and minimal techno that intensifies when headliners hit the decks around 3 a.m. Founders Fahad Haider, Mehmet Erkaya, and Taimur Agha (who daylights as the main buyer for the Halcyon record shop in Dumbo) focus on the essentials: custom-designed lighting for each space; a clear sound system that’s loud yet never piercing; and fellow D.J.’s booked for their creative beats, not the size of their followings. The next party, a showcase for Cadenza Records, is on March 20, and as usual, the venue is a mystery.
