*Thomas, Nora and their teacher find themselves in a garden surrounded by trees. *
TEACHER: Hello! Thomas, Nora!
NORA: Hello! This looks like a lovely wee garden, where are we?
TEACHER: This is the garden of Gethsemane. Christians believe this is where Jesus was betrayed by one of his disciples, Judas, and arrested by the authorities.
We see Jesus approached by two soldiers and Judas. Judas points at Jesus.
THOMAS: Judas doesn’t sound like a very nice friend! Why did they arrest Jesus?
TEACHER: Jesus was arrested for ‘blasphemy’. Blasphemy is when someone says something disrespectful about God or religion. The people in charge of the Jewish faith believed that Jesus blasphemed by saying he was the "King of the Jews" and the "Son of God".
We see a silhouette of Jesus carrying a cross up a hill.
TEACHER: Jesus was put to death on the cross because of this, but he knew it was going to happen as God had told him it was part of His plan.
We see the exterior of a cave. A large boulder is rolled over the entrance.
TEACHER: Jesus' body was placed in a tomb. His body lay there for three days until …
We see that the boulder blocking the entrance has been moved and the cave is empty. Two men are amazed when they look in.
TEACHER: … the tomb was found to be empty. It was then that his followers remembered that Jesus had told them he would rise again on the third day. The empty tomb led Christians to believe that Jesus was resurrected, because it happened just like Jesus said it would.
Easter
At Easter Christians remember the death of Jesus.
The week leading up to Easter is called Holy Week.
We can read in the Bible what happened to Jesus just before his death.

The Last Supper
Jesus had a meal with his disciples to celebrate Passover. Christians call this the Last Supper.
Jesus knew that he was going to die and at the Last Supper he told the disciples that one of them was going to betray him.
Judas was one of the twelve disciples, and he had made a deal with the leaders who didn’t like Jesus. He told them he would lead them to Jesus, so that they could arrest him.

Jesus is arrested
Later that night, Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane where he had gone to pray.
He knew that it was God’s plan for him to die, but he was still scared.
Jesus was arrested for saying that he was the Son of God. Even though he had shown this by his miracles and actions, some of the religious leaders still did not believe him.

Good Friday
Jesus died on the cross on Good Friday.
Christians believe that Jesus died so that our sins (wrong doings) could be forgiven.
Jesus’ body was placed in a cave, but three days later he rose from the dead.
Christians call this the resurrection. They believe it demonstrates that Jesus was indeed the Son of God.

Now that you know about the death and resurrection of Jesus, learn about how Christians go to church to hear God's word.
