Complaint

In a discussion about the state of the economy, references were made to a planning application submitted by Wimbledon’s All England Lawn Tennis Club.  A listener complained the remarks were inaccurate and failed to reflect the opposition to the proposals.  The ECU considered whether the programme met the requirements for due accuracy and impartiality set out in the Guidelines.

Outcome

The brief remarks were made by contributors in the context of wider concerns about the efficiency of the planning system.  The ECU understood there were other views about the proposed development but considered that, in the context of a general discussion about ways to promote growth in the economy, it was not necessary pursue such opinions for due impartiality or accuracy to be maintained.
