
Maine’s tea-party Governor Paul LePage ruffled some feathers last week when he compared the IRS — which collects taxes so that we can have highways and Social Security and a military — to the Gestapo, Nazi Germany’s secret police. But in a new interview, LePage dials it back a notch — one notch, exactly, out of, say, seven. “Maybe the IRS is not quite as bad,” he admitted. “Yet.”
