Now that Ruslan Fedotenko has agreed to a one-year, $1 million contract — he’s been skating, and thriving, on a line with Sean Avery and Derek Stepan during the preseason — the Rangers’ opening-night roster, if not the other line combinations, is just about set. They’ll carry 25 players, with two of them — Chris Drury and Vinny Prospal — beginning the season on injured reserve. (Prospal’s injury is the bigger concern: Larry Brooks reported that his right knee could require season-ending surgery.) And they’ll carry seven defensemen — Matt Gilroy, Michael Sauer, and Steve Eminger made the cut — though five of those seven are right-handed. [NYP, NYT]
