So you’re a musician.
I’m a musician and a poet. I got a couple more titles, but, at the risk of sounding like a douchebag …
No judgment, I promise.
I’m an actor, a D.J., and a model as well. Those are the douchebag ones.
What kind of music do you play?
My favorite is early rhythm and blues, and country. I think everything is predicated on that.
And the clothes?
As a kid, I was really into Bo Diddley—the suits, the bow ties. I like a lot of fifties and sixties culture. I remember watching old footage of Jackie Wilson. I always thought he was real slick the way he moved.
Do you get a lot of comments on your look?
Yeah, but I was thinking about it the other day: It’s not a novelty to me or an aesthetic that I want to create. It’s like, these are the only colors I see.
