She’s currently on New Yorkers’ radar as the choreographer of Hair, but Karole Armitage’s influence has been growing for three decades. This fall, we’ll have a pair of chances to see her marvelously sexy, musically astute work: at the Miller Theatre, where she’ll contribute to a multimedia evening inspired by Kandinsky’s Blue Rider Almanac; and at BAM, where her company will perform a new work, Itutu, alongside marimba lumina star Lukas Ligeti and his Afro-electric pals, Burkina Electric. Not for nothing, was she once dubbed the Punk Ballerina. (Sept 23 and 25 at Miller; November 4 , 6, and 7 at BAM.)
