After five years of sharing apartments with roommates, 28-year-old Bradley Hunter, who hails from Atlanta, felt it was time to strike out on his own with an “adult apartment”“a 250-square-foot walk-up in Soho. Hunter, who works in digital advertising for a start-up company, initially thought that he would buy everything from one store and call it a day. But after meeting Jennifer Beek and Georgie Hambright”acolytes of Albert Hadley and Bunny Williams, respectively”who started their design business, J+G Design, this year, Hunter decided to take a different approach. Given that Hunter’s budget was $5,000, the design duo had to get creative: When they spied an artist selling his dog paintings outside the Met on Fifth Avenue, they nabbed two for the kitchen seating area. Hunter is also a big tennis player, so Beek and Hambright went to Etsy.com and found a vendor who had collected tons of vintage tennis racquets. They’re put to good use as decorative wall art in the bedroom. The nifty bedding is from a DwellStudio warehouse sale. The vintage yellow glass bedside table lamps are from Craigslist.
