Glenn Beck Is Leaving the Greater New York Area

After it languished for over a year on the market, the Connecticut compound of the outgoing Fox News host has finally sold. That’s part of the next step of his life, outside the city. “As we build a new media I’m not building it in New York,” he told a live audience in Albany this weekend. He says his new venture will “utilize the idle brains that we have — retired CIA and military” and create “a new way to communicate with each other,” as well as “a way to deliver news directly to the youth of America.” Pretty ambitious stuff — it’s too bad nobody in New York knows how to do that stuff, otherwise he might have stayed.

Beck implied that he will also sell his apartment in the city. But by making a public repudiation of New York, Beck is once again following the footsteps of Rush Limbaugh, who sold his Upper East Side for more than $11 million in 2010. But unlike Beck, who loves Broadway shows, Limbaugh always hated New York, and said he only had an apartment to escape Florida hurricanes.
