Once Rick Santorum gets his sweater-vest gag out of the way, Jay Leno digs in for some serious questions. Leno asks Santorum about contraception and gay marriage, citing some of his gay friends who are “wonderful parents.” Santorum explains that a child’s best opportunity is to be raised in “a healthy, mother-father relationship.” Leno also probes Santorum about his focus on social issues, part of his campaign’s downfall. “To me the Republicans used to be about strong defense and strong fiscal policy,” Leno says. “Why pornography? These all seem like minor things that really are just diversions.” Indeed pornography is a diversion, but not one that Rick endorses.
