An adept Internet user may chuckle loftily at the news of 400,000 e-mail addresses and passwords lifted by hackers from Yahoo, but it turns out the compromised accounts are from the Yahoo! Contributor Network (acquired from Associated Content) and include more than 100,000 Gmail users, as well as thousands more from Hotmail, AOL, Comcast, and MSN. (Find out here if yours fell victim.) According to a security firm investigating the breach, people are still using passwords like “123456” and “password” — that anyone can laugh at.
