Joining the Morning Joe panel today, our own John Heilemann told the group that the Obama administration will continue to be hurt by a decision two years ago to brand the summer of 2010 as “Recovery Summer.” “They should never have talked up the economy,” Heilemann said. “You can’t brand a summer ‘Recovery Summer’ and then not deliver a recovery. If the president had talked the economy down more in that first year and a half, the improvement would now seem greater.” Ah, the delicate art of managing expectations.
