Former New York City mayor Ed Koch, who is 87, was admitted to New York Presbyterian on Tuesday to treat anemia, according to CNN. He underwent a blood transfusion and is expected to be released in a few days. George Arzt, Koch’s friend and former press secretary, told the New York Times that he’s been “extraordinarily weak” in recent weeks. “He used to eat like a horse, and now he just pushes the food around his plate,” said Arzt. We wish Koch a speedy recovery. Who else is going to take the time to answer New Yorkers’ e-mailed queries in longhand?
