State-run Iranian media claims that scientists have launched a rocket containing a terrified-looking little monkey about 75 miles into space in a mission called Pishgam, or Pioneer. (The U.S. tried something similar in 1949; the monkey died.) Iran’s last monkey trial reportedly failed, although they’ve had success with a mouse, a turtle, and worms. This photograph of the titular pioneer is guaranteed to make you say “Aw” in a bad way.
