Chris Christie endorsed fellow Republican Steve Lonegan on Tuesday, declaring he’s “proud to have him as our candidate for U.S. Senate,” but in a telling line about his former rival, the governor assured the crowd, “My energy is just fine,” adding, “This is not the only time we’ll be together. We’ll help him raise money.” (There had been some doubt.) Christie tried his best to seem enthusiastic, but he didn’t exactly dig into his friend Cory Booker. He promised Lonegan would “give Cory Booker some tussle,” and said there’s a “clear choice” between the two candidates: One will make “principled judgments” he believes are right for America and New Jersey, and “one will support the president at every turn.” So the worst thing about Christie’s Democrat pal from New Jersey is that he agrees too much with his other Democrat pal from Washington.
