Video: Statue of Liberty Shutdown Is Making Tourists Angry, Despondent

The average New Yorker hasn’t felt the paralyzing touch of the government shutdown today, but the same is not true for many visitors. The Statue of Liberty is a national park, which means it’s closed for business until further notice. We went down to the ferry terminal in Battery Park and talked to tourists who’d come from around the country and the world to see Lady Liberty, only to have their dreams crushed. Brace yourself for anger, the occasional anti-American statement, and some heartbreaking words from an 83-year-old Louisiana grandmother.
