Profile

Colonial Williamsburg is hours away, but Lefferts Historic House feels like a miniature, Brooklyn-focused version right in Prospect Park’s Children’s Corner, between the zoo and carousel. Built by a Dutch family in the 18th century, the rooms in the two-story house reflect life in the 1700s, and the house now functions as a fun, educational (and free!) interactive museum. Tour the house to see exhibits, artifacts, and period rooms before engaging in farming activities in the garden or pre-Colonial crafts like candle-making and butter churning. Special weekend activities depend on rural seasonal patterns, like Fleece Fest in the spring and Harvest Days in the fall.
