Profile
After a decade spent in the international modeling world, German-born glamazon Sabina Stahl left the runway behind and joined forces with renowned yogi Jhon Tamayo, creator of the Atmananda sequence. The two opened Atmananda Yoga and Holistic Spa near Astor Place in 1995, as a showcase for Tamayo’s unique, 69-pose series, which blends elements of Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Hatha yoga. Ten years later, Atmananda moved to a stunning, 5,000-square-foot space in Noho, and changed its name to Centerpoint Yoga Studios and then back again. Boasting a spacious, boho-style living room and kitchen, two light-filled group studios (which are also used for private practice), and three treatment rooms for nutritional counseling, chiropractic, acupuncture, and deep-tissue massage, Centerpoint prides itself on being an all-encompassing lifestyle space for reflecting and recharging. Most afternoons, you’ll find students lounging after class on one of the plush couches. A favorite of models, actors, and free-spirited entrepreneurs, Centerpoint also offers cooking classes and teacher training.
