Located on the cosmetics floor of Takashimaya, this minimalist one-room spa exclusively offers eight facials, using products from German skincare line Babor. The narrow treatment room doubles as the changing room�you’ll find no waiting area or added frills�and includes a plush, heated bed and shelves displaying Babor jars and bottles. While comfortable, the space’s sliding door and mid-height walls can allow the sounds of clip-clopping high heels, ringing telephones, and the store’s overhead pop music to infringe on the peace. Takashimaya regulars book monthly post-shopping appointments to wind down with the 50-minute European facial ($100), which encompasses double algae-based exfoliations to slough off dry skin, light extraction, and an herbal mask of ground peach kernels and plant lipids to stimulate the skin’s circulation. The relaxing 50-minute regenerating Champagne Facial employs a cream containing glutathione, an ingredient derived from white wine yeast to boost skin renewal. But the most indulgent of the treatments is the 80-minute anti-aging SeaCreations Facial, featuring a lotion of sea salt, pearl protein, and algae extracts applied with slick, rounded seashells, followed by a coat of Babor’s wrinkle-reducing, sea silk-enhanced SeaCreations Cream (which retails at $400 a jar). — Lauren Murrow
