Profile
Located on the bustling first floor of Henri Bendel is the first U.S. outpost of British hair removal brand Blink Brow Bar. Founder Vania Parti started the company in London in 2004, setting up shop inside the city’s toniest department stores like Selfridges and Harvey Nichols, so opening in Bendel’s in 2011 was an obvious choice for New York. As long as you don’t feel too awkward having your brows done amid the clamor for Laura Mercier tinted moisturizers, you can get prone in their cushy chairs and a well-trained aesthetician will sculpt them into clean arches using nothing more sophisticated than a spool of string and tweezers (it’s threading-only here). Hair removal is not their only service, however: There’s also eyelash tints, extensions, and perming the boosted curl stays in for between five and six weeks. Or just get a whole new set for about $160. Not comfortable with getting primped in public? Just go in for a soothing fifteen-minute head, neck, and shoulder massage. Walk-ins are encouraged though appointments are happily taken.
