Profile
With Castor & Pollux, Kerrilyn Pamer has created a women's apparel boutique that brings to Manhattan a bevy of beautifully feminine (but not frilly) fashions. Trained as an interior designer, Pamer worked for Martha Stewart before turning her talented eye to clothing and accessories; now, she curates a petite store to help stylish Manhattanites build their wardrobes and even manages to attract some intrepid outer-borough explorers in the process. Favoring classic pieces over anything trendy or fashion-forward, the result is an eclectic mix that looks simultaneously contemporary and vintage. The 3.1 Phillip Lim line exhibits precise tailoring; Sonia knits are more textural and youthful; and Wyeth dresses impress with their simple, flattering designs. There are tank tops, T-shirts, sweatshirts and silk-screened hoodies with the store's logoa pair of conjoined galloping horseare particularly popular. Pamer also sells leather wallets, jeans by Acne and Filippa K, and gold, silver, and beaded jewelry, much of it created by local designers.
ExtraBiannual sales happen in January for the fall collections and August for spring. Markdowns start at 20% and can go as high as 70%.
