It opens with an explicit sex scene between Marisa Tomei and Philip Seymour Hoffman, but we’re not planning to show up late to Sydney Lumet’s latest achievement. ï¿½His touch,ï¿½ David Edelstein says of the 83-year-old directorï¿½who our critic points out has made more clunkers than classicsï¿½ï¿½is so sure, so perfectly weighted, that it’s hard to imagine him capable of making a bad movie. The thing is just enthralling.ï¿½ And hey, at least you don’t have to see him naked.
