For those who'd like to watch the ball drop but can't stomach the thought of freezing on the asphalt in Times Square, the Tribeca Grand hosts an annual, high-gloss version of New York's most famous New Year's Eve tradition. The swanky downtown hotel lowers its own 7,000-watt replica of the luminous ball from a 90-foot atrium at the stroke of midnight, and surrounds the climactic event in beats spun by Aaron La Crate and D.J. Jaclyn. For $249 a head, the hotel will reserve you a seat and a ticket to the buffet in the towering Church Lounge. And for partiers more interested in liquids than solids, general admission costs $149 and includes an open bar from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.  Either way, cocktail attire is recommended, and all tickets must be purchased in advance.  — Kendall Herbst
