Profile
The price you pay for a suit that fits like a glove (in addition to the actual month’s-rent-size price) is, of course, the untold minutes standing for a tailor’s measurements. But at the futuristic brainchild of Harvard Business School alum Jamal Motlaghjoining other new menswear ventures like the high-tech shirt shop Manuel Racima 3D scanner retrieves 200,000 data points on your body in 60 seconds. Just stand in your skivvies in a private fitting room and the machine does the rest. Your remaining time is spent perusing racks of samples (rather than just fabric swatches) with no-middleman prices: tweed and cotton suits from $857; striped, solid, and checked dress shirts from $149; jeans in four washes from $225; and a rainbow of cotton chinos from $149, all of which can be customized with various types of stitching, lapels, and monogramming.
