The space allows just enough room for a single sales associate to sit in a corner folding chair, watching as earth-conscious shoppers leaf through founder Johanna Hofring’s natural fiber, sweatshop-free collection. Together with a co-op of about ten other designers, Swedish import Hofring has been touting alternative clothing production since she opened her shop in 1998, and uses only pesticide- and chemical-free fibers, such as hemp, to construct handmade pieces in mostly understated colors like cement, cream, and mauve. A small selection of kids’ jumpers and infant onesies are available but sell out quickly. — Molly Noonan
