Profile
An overwhelming array of bedroom and living-room sets greets visitors at this global retailer’s two-story showroom. The emphasis on clean, minimalist design and whole-room furnishing is reminiscent of Ikea, but BoConcept’s pricier merchandise has an edgierand more elegantfeel. Almost all of the furniture is modular, meaning it’s easy to customize. One person’s black leather loveseat can be another’s gray piped-cotton sectional with chaise longue or suede corner sleeper. Shoppers can have wardrobes fitted with tempered-glass sliding doors or entertainment centers rigged with media racks. Even for chairs, there are choices of armrests and legs. The catch: If the custom piece you want isn't in the store or its New Jersey warehouse, you may have to wait two months for delivery from Denmark.
