Nestled under the Williamsburg Bridge, this classic mom-and-pop shop offers home necessities imbued with a modern Williamsburg sensibility. Opened by husband and wife team Philippa Content and Christopher Winterbourne in 2009, the store is filled with new and vintage housewares bought locally and abroad, like cast-iron skillets found secondhand upstate, modern enamel pots imported from Japan, and hand-carved wooden cooking utensils. The soundtrack comes from the owners’ record collection, which ranges from Billie Holiday to Hugh Masekela, and the décor sticks mostly to natural materials�the rich hardwood floor, vintage crates laying about, and cutting boards hanging from the walls bring warmth to the clean, white space, while repurposed, Victorian-era bottles add a splash of color. Overall the look and feel of the goods is classic Americana (rubber duckies, rolling pins, and honey dippers abound), but British Anglepoise desk lamps and French Savon de Marseille soaps add some international flair. The shop also carries Tourne, a line of home goods designed by Content and Winterbourne that includes locally produced wool blankets and kitchen and bathroom ceramics. — Janelle Zara
