Profile
Since it opened in 2004, Rachel Goldberg and Tessa Phillips’s Brooklyn Collective has become an apex of Red Hook’s social scene because of their in-store parties. The collective itself sprang into being because local designers Goldberg and Phillips wanted a space where they could sell their work (metalwork jewelry and vintage-inspired clothing, respectively) alongside other artists’ creations, like Species by the Thousands’ hand-painted shoes, Niccole Ugay’s massive acrylic paintings, and Milton Carter's screen-printed T-shirts. Artists and designers rent shelf or rack space here but pay no commission. The collection flips every couple months, so it’s worth stopping by once a season for that one-of-a-kind guitar strap, pendant, or handbag.
