Brooklyn Industries

Profile
Husband-and-wife designers, owners, and Brooklynites Lexy Funk and Vahap Avsar Funk opened their first store in Williamsburg in 2001; since then, they've added three more Brooklyn locations, three Manhattan locations and a contemporary arts center. Other than the company's prominent line of branded T-shirts and "neighbor-hoodies," outer-borough pride is implied instead of proclaimed with most of the dresses, sweaters, pants, and purses left logo-free. In a city addicted to bags backpacks, duffels, laptop cases and pouchesBrooklyn Industries offers a lifetime warranty, guaranteeing repair or replacement of defective bags. In addition, the simple, classic clothing is made in small batches (using some of the same fabric suppliers as Prada, a manufacturing detail that is in no way reflected in their prices). The limited-edition approach ensures that the products remain fresh from season to season.
SalesThere's a continuous sale section in each store for prior-season overflow.
