Profile
The pioneering snowboard brand brings a ski town to Soho at this dark, wood-paneled store where you can find everything from decorative vintage snowboards to a full selection of high-performance gear. The alpine touches range from mostly notionala resort-style sign advertises the snow conditions on mountains thousands of miles awayto deeply practicala partnership with a tour bus company means buses regularly leave from the store for New England resorts at the crack of dawn. And Burton will certainly be able to set you up for such a trip: The store features an array of the brand's snowboards and everything else you might need to go out and get rad (gloves, boots, goggles, hip flasks). While snowboard gear takes up the middle of the store and is at the core of the Burton brand, the majority of the floor space is given over to apparel. There's a lot of mountain gear that would take some serious verve to wearfluorescent and faux fur, for instancebut that's not all they do: There's plenty of clothing and practical accessories like hats and scarves that wouldn't be out of place around town, including a standout collaboration with Filson that's much more Lower East Side than high alpine.
