Inspired by days gone by, this Seattle-based design house blends nostalgia and excellent quality in a line of beautifully detailed, high-end children's clothing and shoes. (The name might sound European, in a bit of savvy branding, but the products are produced in the U.S. and Canada.) Labor-intensive French seams, as smooth inside the garment as out, blind-stitched hems, and materials in 100-percent cotton, linen, and wool are part of the fine details found throughout the line, which runs in sizes from newborn to 10 years old. Another nice touch: Many pieces in the boys' and girls' collections intermix, and no one would be the wiser. The bright white walls and clean fixtures are a refreshing change from the loud primary colors and overwhelming murals found at some other kids' shops. As the prices imply, the pieces are durable even when they look delicate, which means that younger sibs and lucky cousins can wear them for years to come.

Children's FormalwearForget Starbucks: Flora and Henri is the Seattle import New York parents want in their neighborhoods. Popular wedding picks are the embroidered princess dress, the boys’ tailored shirt, and Italian ankle boots.
