Profile
The high-end bedroom, living room, and dining room furniture and home accessories displayed at Intérieurs defy easy description. The shop's owner, French designer Francine Gardner, declines to limit her collecting to a particular place or era, instead choosing pieces based on her personal vision. The resultant collection shares a wholly united aesthetic, despite eclectic pedigrees and globe-trotting provenance. Gardner specializes in unique wood and industrial pieces, culling her one-off wares mostly from France, but also from the States, Eastern Europe, and Asia. While the heavily monolithic solid wood furniture is predominantly dark-stained, highly polished and crafted of old, recycled or rare woods, there are more rustic pieces, too. Salvaged industrial tables, chairs and cabinets are made with darkly patina’ed metal, and the overarching earth-toned color palette is livened by patches of deep color in the linens and Himalayan cashmere pillows and throws. Intérieurs also carries furniture and accessories by several French designers, including the company Modénature. Gardner herself takes on private interior design projects, as well.
