Profile
New York native Sarah Leibowitz opened this upscale, stylish kitchen emporium in mostly residential Borough Park to introduce a modern edge to the traditional act of cooking. Glass shelves display 1,000 products from more than 200 brands. The salespeople, who are gourmet cooks themselves, move easily through the 2,000-square-foot space appointed with hardwood floors and stainless-steel display tables, dispensing cooking tips and anecdotes about each item. There is a dizzying array of goods, from cookware like pans and woks to tools like garlic crushers and potato peelers to gadgets like panini makers and espresso machines. Heavy-hitting brands like Viking, Le Creuset, Calphalon, Chantal, Kyocera, and Krups and boutique labels such as Scanpan are all in the mix. Die-hard culinary enthusiasts appreciate the constantly refreshed inventory, though there is one steady favorite: Swiss Diamond’s Cuisine Wok, a saucepan coated with over 200,000 diamond crystals to create the strongest possible non-stick surface. Borough Park too far a trek? Kitchen Couture offers free consultations in all five boroughs, during which a sales associate will visit your apartment and advise you on how to put together the perfect gourmet kitchen.
