Profile
Simplicity is the guiding principle behind Japanese import Muji’s designs. Once inside the wide glassy store with high ceilings, one finds a wide array of productsclothing, home organization tools, towels, and bedsstripped of unnecessary frills The palette across the board is neutral: black, white, clear, gray, olive, and navy. Men’s clothing includes logo-free cotton polos and v-neck tees, as well as linen button-downs. Women can find minimalist sack dresses and tunics with drawstring waists. The back corner holds a furniture collection with aluminum tables, a pocket coil mattress with legs (a fine alterative to the futon), and blocky urethane sofas. Numerous shelves display a hodgepodge of home, office, and gift items such as refillable plastic bottles and soap dispensers, speakers made out of cardboard, pretty colored pencils in silver cans, organic cotton sheets, and T-shirts packed so tightly they exhibit an artistic pattern of origami-like wrinkles once unfolded.
