Profile
As the former buyer for indie jewelry store Catbird, Old Hollywood owner Tiffany Porter has a proven talent for discovering distinctive young designers before they're scooped up by Oak or Anthropologie. She split from Catbird to launch a 300-square-foot Greenpoint nook in October 2008--then relocated to this larger space in July 2010--focusing on glam, vintage-inspired accessories. Around twenty hand-picked lines glitter from the drawers of an antique wardrobe and dangle in enticing strands off the shelvesmany of them exclusive to the store, like VeridiAum's reclaimed leather-and-rose gold rings, chunky scarab and quill trinkets from Withering Elm, Miss KK’s feathered accessories, and elaborate layered necklaces strewn with vintage brooches by Harlow in Chains. Porter sells her own decades-inspired Old Hollywood jewelry line alongside other local designers, as well as a small array of new and vintage clothing, like Elizabeth O'Brien Berg’s saucy, high-waisted swimwear and mustachioed graphic tees from Species by the Thousands. The store’s covetable accessories are priced to tempt the parade of stylists, artists, and local hipsters who pore over the weekly changing stock, from a $20 brass charm bracelet to a $300 oversize gold cocktail ring.
