Profile
Opalia Flowers, a tiny Boerum Hill custom floral shop, draws in customers with its glorious scent and charming shabby-chic décor of antique rustic cabinets and landscape paintings in gilded frames. Owner Phoebe B. Crary opened the store, named for a Roman festival that honored the goddess of fertility and abundance, in February 2006, after studying at the Flower School in Manhattan; her teacher, Felipe Sastre, joined her as chief floral designer. The fresh-cut flowers vary by season, coming from local sources as well as international growers. Both well-known and unusual flora explode with bold colors and perfumesdahlias, Lisianthus pink, roses, tulips, and eucalyptus, to name a few. The store crafts unique arrangements according to the customer's taste and the occasion, be it a wedding, anniversary, or corporate event. Shoppers are also welcome to gather their own bunches or select a single stem, and glass vases of varying sizes and styles are in stock.
