All the products in Organic Avenue are environmentally sustainable, as is the store itself. At this ecoboutique and live-food shop, the blonde-wood floors are built from bamboo, the pale-green walls are coated in nontoxic paint, the faux-plastic utensils are made from corn and potato starches, and even the water and air are filtered through custom-built purification systems. Long-term vegans Denise Mari and Doug Evans started their business out of Mari’s loft in 2002, opening the store four years later as a source for all-natural apparel, food, beauty products, and books like Living on Raw Foods and Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips. The large selection of mostly women’s apparel made of bamboo fleece, hemp, and organic cotton is surprisingly chic, including French terry tanks, fitted jackets, lace-trimmed slips, and zip-up hooded dresses. Refrigerators near the entrance stock fresh pressed juices and meals prepared daily like cucumber-mint soup, kale-dulse salad, and chocolate-Chia-seed tapioca. At the center of the store, ecoconscious customers crowd the lone table and chairs to chat with staff over smoothies.
Raw Food Delivery ServiceOrganic Avenue offers three cleansing programs with daily meal deliveries. All food is live, organic, and vegan.
