Profile
This spacious boutique draws both sexes with edgy, versatile dresses and button-ups in unusual prints. After earning a following at its Washington, D.C., location, Pop expanded into Brooklyn in 2005, opening on a street thick with vintage stores and boutiques. The well-stocked shop is a dependable source for feminine, funky dresses like the button-up or belted styles from BB Dakota, satin tank numbers by Piko 1988, and Free People shifts in tropical prints. On the men’s side, the statement-making collection of button-down shirts are the draw, done up in polka-dot, paisley, or plaid prints from Brown Sound, Ben Sherman, and Penguin. In the accessories department, soft-leather clutches in rich yellow and pink and vivid shoes from BC and Dolce Vita fill an orderly wall of cubbies in the back, while racks of dapper men’s Goorin duckbill hats sit in between. Tables near the register display Thomas Paul’s mod melamine dishware, wood and silver jewelry, and oversize, vintage-inspired sunglasses.
